Hair PRP and Microneedling with Dr. Brent

Lisa Breckenridge Microneedling with Dr. BrentI’ll be honest, I am up for trying anything to age gracefully…if someone told me rubbing bird poop on my face would make me look younger, sign me up! (Oh wait, I  just googled bird poop facial, and apparently it’s a thing, guess I’ll be putting that on my list!).

My latest anti-aging obsession is Micro-needling with Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP, and my go to person is Dr. Brent Moelleken. He is one of the top Plastic Surgeons in Beverly Hills, and the genius who fixed my broken nose not once, but twice!!! More on that in a different post! Today we’re targeting not just my face, but my scalp as well.  My hair seriously thinned out after having the twins, that combined with stress and aging and I needed some help!

Lisa Breckenridge PRP with Dr. BrentThe treatment starts with having my blood drawn, it’s then spun down in a centrifuge to remove the red cells from the plasma, that way you’re just getting the most concentrated good stuff with all the growth factors.

The PRP is then injected directly into the scalp, I’ll be honest it hurts. If you really need it they can put numbing cream on the scalp, but it’s kinda messy so I white knuckle it (again I gave birth to twins so I have a high tolerance for pain.)

Lisa Breckenridge PRP with Dr. BrentAnyone who’s experiencing hair loss or hair thinning is a good candidate. Early intervention gets a better response and for best results, consistency is key. Treatments are typically performed once a month for the first three to four months, and then every three to six months thereafter, depending on the patient’s response and results. Trust me I’ve noticed a big change in my hairline it’s definitely not as thin as it was, and I am super excited.

Now onto the face: Micro-needling creates teeny tiny micro holes in your skin with the help of a Dermapen. These little punctures trick the skin into thinking it needs to heal and that sends fibroblasts to create more collagen into the affected area.

Lisa Breckenridge Microneedling with Dr. BrentThe Micro-needling treatment can be done with different healing or hydrating serums but for the ultimate glow and for reducing scars, small wrinkles etc the best is to combine the micro-needling with the PRP…See two treatments for the price of two treatments, but at least it’s just one blood draw!

Lisa Breckenridge Microneedling with Dr. BrentSince PRP is derived from your own blood, the side effects are virtually eliminated.

Works great for any skin type and the downtime is reasonable…Here’s my car selfie after the treatment…I obviously look a bit funny, but there’s no shame in my game. I know in a day or two the redness will be gone and I’ll have  younger fresh skin!!!
