The Best Homemade Brownies
You’ll never reach for a box of brownie mix after trying my mom’s delicious brownies. I’ve made these so many times since childhood it’s actually the only recipe I know by heart. They are thinner than most brownies, but still super fudgy and moist with crisp edges.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate squares
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp vanilla
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup chopped walnuts optional
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
In the top of a double boiler, melt the butter and chocolate. Remove from heat stir in sugar, eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Combine the flour and salt and add to the chocolate mixture, stir until smooth. Spread batter into a 10×15 greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, do not overcook.
Let set for 5 minutes before cutting into squares and then cool on a rack.
