Venice V is Los Angeles’s Coolest New Beachfront Hotel

Venice V Hotel is one of the chicest new beachside hotels in Southern California. In fact, it’s the only beachfront hotel in Venice…surrounded by all that makes this area so eclectic from the surfing, skating, boardwalk, and of course muscle beach.

Set inside the historic Waldorf, a landmark originally opened in 1915, this newly remodeled property was once home to all sorts of former A-listers from Charlie Chaplin to Jim Morrison. Not to mention The V has been the setting for plenty of films, including “Cobra” starring Sylvester Stallone, “Falcon and the Snowman,” and “Once Upon a Time in Venice” starring Bruce Willis.

The space still has the vibe of a creative nomad’s retreat. You’ll find three different themes throughout its 30 rooms: the artist, the athlete, and the sun lover. When I toured the hotel while covering it for “California Live” on NBC, I fell in love with the rooftop’s boho-chic room with its breathtaking views of the ocean along with the “Dogtown Suite” which of course pays homage to the area’s skateboard lifestyle.

Even though the hotel’s been completely renovated, designers preserved many of the details from the historic building, including the oldest elevator West of the Mississippi. Local artists are featured throughout the space…and that giant mural of Abbot Kinney (who founded Venice) is made of 4,000 skateboard wheels.

The hotel utilizes the nearby hotspot “Great White” for its in-room dining. This beloved local eatery specializes in California cuisine, avocado toast, fish tacos, and one of the yummiest breakfast burritos.

Whether you’re visiting from out of town, or you’re a Southern California local, this boutique hotel is the perfect escape. And comes complete with bicycles and surfboards to help you explore all that is the vibe of Venice.
