With Cinco De Mayo around the corner I felt it was necessary to share with you one of my favorite Mexican spots on the west side. The best part about “Blue Plate Taco” is that not only is the food delicious, but it has amazing views of the ocean and the Santa Monica Pier.
I came with my childhood best friend, Karen, and we promptly ordered margaritas and guacamole with fresh homemade tortilla chips.
With a name like “Blue Plate Taco” you know that their tacos are the main event, but don’t worry there are plenty of other tasty choices!

For me, I always order the crispy truffled lobster taco, yep that’s right, lobster in a creamy truffle sauce with panela cheese and shreds of cabbage. How do you NOT order that?
Karen tried the veggie taco plate with beans and rice and absolutely loved them. We also sampled the chicken mushroom and corn flautas topped with guacamole, salsa, and cotija cheese. Along with the ceviche mixto with lobster, calamari, shrimp, crab and topped with pomegranate seeds and pickled onion. I mean how drool-worthy do these dishes sound? And there is much much more.
The full bar serves innovative spiked agua frescas and boutique tequila cocktails, but their classic margaritas are their signature cocktail. So whether you are eating inside their uniquely decorated interior or out on the patio watching the sunset, you just can’t go wrong at BP Taco.
