Hair Biology: My Tips For Healthier Hair As You Age

I don’t know about you, but once I hit 50 I really started seeing the changes in my hair.  Yes of course there’s the gray factor.  But I also noticed it definitely started thinning out and became drier. We can thank our hormones for those fun changes, not to mention the stress of the past few years.

My hair in fact has always been the part of me I wish I could change…what I wouldn’t do for thick long voluminous tresses. And now that I am older and definitely seeing the wear and tear, and lack of hair, it’s a big concern. I am also one of those people who has to wash and style my hair every day (which I know isn’t great for my hair) but, because it’s thinner it just never holds a style on the second day.

That’s why I was so thrilled when Hair Biology approached me about trying their line of products designed specifically for women of a certain age.  The scientists at Hair Biology formulated products to work with our unique hair biology as we age, not against it. I’ve been using the products for a while now and am so happy with the results…no I’ll never be the long hair woman with thick flowy locks…but what I do have feels softer, my color isn’t fading, and the thickening treatments give me a boost.

The first products I tried are from the Vivid and Protected Collection. If you color treat your hair, you know it can be damaging to your hair and scalp. The Color Brilliance Shampoo gently cleanses without stripping to protect against damage and any fading. I follow it up with the Color Brilliance Conditioner which works to nourish my over-processed hair strands.  Then for a special treat once a week I use the Color Sealing Mask. After washing my hair, I comb it through and let it work its magic for 20 minutes. These three products combined help keep each strand looking as brilliant as possible.

I also have a few other favorites from Hair Biology. The strengthening argan oil taming serum is perfect for taking care of flyaways and makes my hair feel silkier, especially on the ends which obviously are the most damaged. Just a few drops of the serum keeps my hair from feeling dry and brittle.

And the thickening treatment does exactly that! This one is super easy to use, just spray a moderate amount at the roots, and then massage in. You can use it on wet or dry hair…and you’ll see it instantly thickens each strand.  The benefits are progressive on this one. The more you use it, the thicker your hair feels.

I love that all the products I mentioned are infused with biotin which supports strong, healthy hair growth. The Vivid & Protected collection is also sulfate-free and all Hair Biology products are paraben and dye-free. And did I mention the products all smell so good?

Hair Biology has various formulas to fit your personal needs…the entire line is well-priced and it’s available exclusively at Target.
